Finds: Cheap Children's Books Part II

I am so happy for my friends Teacher Wang and Teacher Rej for being part of Teach for the Philippines
I attended one of their presentations and I really like their mission and vision for our dear country (follow the link for more info)

That's why when I saw Teacher Wang's request for books (and other things like coloring books, coloring materials, manila papers, erasers, etc), I sent her a message instantly!

I truly believe that books can shape one's mind, so I grabbed the chance. Thing is, I'm not rich enough to buy brand new ones, so I went to Booksale Alphaland branch to get me some Php5 books!

I found some Php 5 treasure but I also found good ones worth Php 10 (and one worth Php70), so I have to buy them too. Actually there are many good ones worth >5 but, yeah.

Here are the precious ones:
Poems for Two Voices - This would be perfect for an English class.

Night at the Museum Spot the Difference - Because books can be fun with pictures, too.

Yoyo book - Tricks! Everyone loves yoyo tricks.

Mad Libs - For the kids to have fun with words!
I like this book because of the image below

:) The kids would know the meaning of the words because of the story! I love it!

Winnie the Pooh. Because Winnie the Pooh :)

Look at the artwork! That's why I bought ...

Angelina's Halloween

Golden Compass - Hoping that they'll love the plot and read the whole book

Secrets of the Alchemist Dar - Fantasy is what I really loved when I was young. Actually, up until now. And this book has loads of it.

I like it here at school - Easy-to-read and relatable poems are inside...

...like this one

Catch Jo's Cat - This is like Where's Waldo. And I love Where's Waldo when I was a kid. Had to buy this instead of WW because of the price difference XD

This is the Php 70 book. Booksale knows how to price their items. Bought it because I know it's hard to draw sea creatures.

Remember the Alamo - For the kids to know that wars are dumb. :P

Enjoyed hunting for these books! Feel free to comment if you also want to donate! :D

X-MEN: Days of Future Past

I'm not a comic book nerd (I love to be one, but time and money won't let me be), but I really loved watching X-Men movies, especially now that my favorite actor, James McAvoy (loved him first at Inside I'm Dancing), started to become a mutant on X-Men: First Class.
And at last, on May 23, X-Men: Days of Future Past will be showing in the Philippines!
Here's the trailer:

It will be epic! Like this poster is:

I really want to watch this movie, so to have free passes, I must answer this question:
"What would you correct from your past to save the future?"
If it's from MY past, I would DO more. I embedded in my brains that if I have good grades, everything will follow. So I just studied, avoided extracurriculars, and did not do anything much. I want to do more. So that I could save the future emo-me from college.

If it's from the past, I would stop every person who thought of nuclear weapons (who made a thesis about it, who endorse it to big companies/government, etc) and used them to bomb the Earth. It's hard enough to live without being afraid of the countries with the weapons, right?

Animorphs 30 Day Challenge: Day 28 - Ellimist or Crayak

Day Twenty-Eight: The Ellimist or Crayak?
The Crayak (image from the link).
Image from the link.

I can't choose Crayak. He's scary and bullies Jake. He made Howlers (which is a fantastic creature added in the list of 'wtf ftw monsters in fiction' by the way. You rock, K.A. Applegate), who were programmed to look at murder as a game.

Plus I don't get his point - why would he want to destroy everything just to rule the ultimate species? Why would he want to rule the species who could be so destructive (I'm speculating here that they would be.) that they could kill each other in the long run? What would he do/create with these creatures anyway?

So I'll pick the Ellimist.

Who would you pick?

Finds: Cheap Children's Books

I started loving children's books when my brother Sam came out of this world. I really want to have a book buddy in the family so I need to give him books as early as ever.

I also have a dozen goddaughters and godsons (literally) so I found a way to influence a group of people to be as bookish as I am wahahaha!

And because I'm forever a cheapskate, this green store is a magnet

Love.

I went to their Alphaland branch and slumped to browsed the children's books section until I found these precious stuff:

I bought them for just P 5 each! I'm still so happy as I type this!

Take a good look at them:

Beautiful beautiful things.
There are lots of P 5 books there but I chose those, carefully. I want the kids to read awesome stuff, so they'll want more.

The jewel of the seven, for me, is Lettice. Because glitters.
It's also the most brand new looking of all. The cute illustrations will also make a kid stare harder and spend more time with this book. I did.

The last book above I bought for P 20. I was attracted to it because when I was in elementary, eye illusions were s hit. But the books are expensive. Our library has several of them, but I was not bully enough (yes, sadly. Can't believe it myself too.) to hoard them every library time.

Do you know any bookstores aside from booksale that has many preloved children's books? Or do you have finds like these also?
Tell me in the comments section please. :D

Animorphs 30 Day Challenge: Day 27 - Helmacrons

Day Twenty-Seven: <We are the Helmacrons, lords of the galaxy!>

Aw, the most annoying aliens in the universe. Their high regard of themselves makes humanity look so humble.

But I had such a laugh reading Helmacron 'episodes'. Especially Marco's 'grovelling'. Gods that's a classic Marco move.

It drifted my mind from the David trilogy.
